Kathmandu, May 25: Former Prime Minister Madhav Kumar Nepal, who was often seen in formal attire and attending political meeting and programmes, was today spotted in a different avatar.

He was seen in a casual attire- kurta and paijama, and a labor jacket on top of it and was wearing a safety helmet in the head with a shovel in hand at the Nepal School in Jhor, Kathmandu.

CPN (UML) senior leader Nepal was there to boost the morale of the volunteers mobilized by the CPN (UML) at the locality in a bid to construct the quake-ravaged infrastructures of the public entities.

Of total 17 classes in the School, nine classes have been rendered inhabitable. CPN (UML) has been deploying its volunteers in the quake-hit districts under the 'National Volunteers Mobilization Initiative' since April 24.

The presence of leader Nepal was seemingly further motivating the volunteers and locals to accelerate the construction of a temporary shed with the locally available materials as bamboo, mud and zinc sheets. Leader Nepal believed that such social initiatives spearheaded by the youths would help in relieving the wound of the quake-hit persons to some extent.

He was of the opinion that the government should increase its financial aid from Rs 15,000 to Rs 50,000 to the quake-hit persons. Leader Nepal spoke of the need to prioritize the reconstruction of the damaged schools at the first place.

On the occasion, Nepal also instructed the UML cadres to continue serving public to the best of their capacity. Similarly, Arjun Prasad Lamichanne, the Head teacher of the School shared that the school would soon be ready for resumption of classes as the volunteers were working in full swing for the construction of an alternative building for the damaged school.

The labor volunteering campaign, running in 51 constituencies in 17 districts with 10,000 volunteers, will last for one more month, according to the party. RSS
