Khajura (Banke), Aug. 25: The District Administration Office, Banke, has lifted the curfew till 2:00 pm today from 9:00 this morning.

The District Administration Office Banke had issued a curfew order in the Nepalgunj Sub metropolitan area from 21:00 pm Monday to 9:00 am today. 

Chief District Officer Bed Prakash Lekhak said that the curfew order shall remain into effect from 2:00 pm today to 6:00 am Wednesday.  

The administration has enforced curfew from Bhujaigaun of north Ranjha to Jamunaha (south), and Phultekra Chowk towards east to Nandani Mill to the west.

The situation around Nepalgunj area is normal at present, it is said. RSS

NRCS provides home loan, relief package  
Khotang, Aug. 25: The Nepal Red Cross Society (NRCS), Khotang chapter, has provided Rs 1.5 million in home loan to the earthquake affected families in the district.

A total of 100 worst affected families in the district were given rs 15,000 each and other logistics with support from the international federation of red cross. 

Chairman of NRCS Khotang chapter, Kumar Singh Basnet, said that people rendered homeless after the April 25 earthquake were selected to offer loan and other relief materials.

Basnet said the 18 families in Bahunidanda, 12 in Lamidanda, 11 in Kharpa, 10 each in Badahare, Dhitung, Arkhaule and Nundhala, and 8 in Dikuwa were selected for the relief package and loan.

NRCS also said that altogether 512 quake-hit families in the district were given tents for their temporary settlements. RSS

Bridge renovated

Kalikot, Aug. 25: A suspension bridge over a river linking Mehalmudi and Syuna VDCs in Kalikot district has been renovated recently after the National News Agency had carried out a news report about the dilapidated condition of the bridge. 

The news was widely covered in newspapers and electronic media too. 

The District Development Committee (DDC) Kalikot provided Rs 600,000 for the maintenance of the bridge under the heading of remote area development programme. 

The local residents of the two VDCs have been benefitted directly after the maintenance of the bridge. The bridge was constructed in 2053 BS with support from a community-based organisation. RSS

Govt health institutions lack medicines in Nawalparasi 
Nawalparasi, Aug. 25: Some government health institutions in Nawalparasi district are reeling under the crisis of medicines lately.

The health posts and sub-health posts are facing lack of medicines due to continuous shutdown enforced by different groups in the district for almost 15 days. 

Likewise, supply of medicines was also disrupted in the hilly region of the district because of road obstruction after the landslides and floods.

The health institutions are facing shortfall of different types of vaccines and iron tablets including others.

Chief of District Public Health Office Jaya Bahadur Karki said that lack of medicines has surfaced in the health institutions due to strike for the last 15 days. RSS

Two police beats torched 

Gaushala, Aug. 25: The cadres of agitating United Democratic Madhesi Front (UDMF) torched two police beats at 5:00 this morning in Jaleshwor, the district headquarters of Mahottari. 

Dozens of agitating cadres torched the police beats at Matihani Chowk and Bakhari Chowk.

It is said that both the police beats were completely destroyed in the fire.

After the incident, the local administration has beefed up the security situation in other areas of the district headquarters as well.

Likewise, a large number of protestors are coming to the district headquarters from early morning to protest the delineation of the provinces in the federal setup. RSS

Registration of 30 co-ops scrapped in Banke

Bank, Aug. 25: The Division Cooperative Office, Banke, has nullified the registration of 30 inactive cooperatives of the district.

Chief of the Office, Prakash Poudel, said that the cooperatives failing to submit the details of their operation till June 7 were scrapped.  

He said that the cooperatives failing to submit the reports of the financial details and general assembly, and those not carrying out their audits for two fiscal years were scrapped.

The cooperatives are supposed to submit the details of their financial transaction at the registrar’s office in a given timeline in accordance with the Cooperative Act, 2048. 

Earlier on 8 May, the Office had issued a notice to a total of 151 passive cooperatives to appear within 35 days with the evidences of their operation. RSS

CD4 count machine goes dysfunctional

Tilottama (Rupandehi), Aug. 25: Dysfunctional of the CD4 count machine at Lumbini Zonal Hospital has affected people living with HIV/AIDS in the region.

The service was closed some months ago but efforts have not been made to resume the service, forcing the affected people to go to Kathmandu for the tests.
The HIV affected persons should take the medicine if their CD4 is less than a certain level.

Currently, ART Centre at the Lumbini Zonal Hospital is collecting the blood of the affected persons to send it to the capital city for the CD4 count test, Programme Coordinator at the ARC Centre Dharmaraj Bhattarai said. 

Meanwhile, Medical Superintendent of the Hospital Rajendra Prasad Khanal said that demands are made to bring the new machine at the hospital for the service resumption. RSS
